Surrounded!

We went for a walk as a family over the weekend and really enjoyed the beautiful park that is just 1 block away from our home!!! I am so grateful for this park as it is an easy way to get out of the house and let Ewan get some fresh air on a daily basis! Denny started feeding the ducks and we were surrounded by ducks and geese- I was a little nervous at first, but Ewan thought it was really neat!

Me, holding onto Ewan very tightly!!!

See the duck to our right? She was so close, I could have touched her!!! Later, 2 more came up to get bread and Ewan was mesmerized!

Simple pleasures. . .pure joy

This morning Ewan and I went for a nice long walk and had so much to enjoy! The weather was beautiful and there were lots of ducks swimming in the creek! These are some of the same ducks that like to hang out in our yard from time to time! Last night, Denny took Ewan outside to feed the ducks in our yard and he just LOVED it!! I swear he is trying to say "duck", although, it comes out "duh, duh".

The pretty walking path

On a walk. . .

Not the best pics, as they were taken with my cell phone, but Ewan decided he wanted to "walk" on our walk!! He is still obsessed with pushing anything he can find with or without wheels so he can walk- soon, he is going to figure out that he can walk without these "assistive devices" (I can't resist calling them this, as I am a PT!!).

Music to his ears?

We went for our daily walk and Ewan was not too happy about it. There were quite a few tears for the first 10 minutes, however, I made an interesting discovery. Apparently, I can sing- or so Ewan thinks! He immediately stopped crying and did not start again even after I stopped singing. Wierd. We all know that unfortunately, I do NOT have the gift of singing ability. But, my little man appears to enjoy it- which just cracks Denny and I up!!!!

Breakthrough!!!!

After discussing my son's behavior (whenever I attempt to take him anywhere, ie. screaming when mommy won't hold him on walks and in the shopping cart) with my WISE sister-in-law, I have achieved a breakthrough!!!!!!! THANK YOU MEL!!!!!!!!! Ewan and I went for a walk this afternoon for 30 minutes- with Ewan IN THE STROLLER THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!! Yes, there were some tears- but they didn't last very long at all- we just pushed on through and had a VERY enjoyable time. It sure does beat lugging his 20 pound frame around in the sling!!!!!! With Mel's help, I have come to a realization, Ewan is approaching toddler-hood and we better start preparing!!!!!

The solution. . .for now at least!

As I have mentioned a couple times in other posts, Ewan seems to only be happy when mommy is holding him-which makes going for walks with the stroller a bit challenging. So, today, Denny and I decided to try this contraption for our "family walk". . . and Ewan LOVED it!!! He was giggling and smiling during the entire walk- no tears at all! Ewan saw LOTS of geese and ducks in the park and was fascinated by them. And daddy saw some bass in the stream which fascinated him!!! And I got a good work out carrying around a 20 pounder!
